Endangered Missing Child - Jessica Chagoya

Updates:

image of Jessica ChagoyaJessica Chagoya has not spoken to her family since Tuesday. There is not much information about this case. I found one article and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has released a poster.

Jessica is 12-years-old and is missing from Lathrop, California which is near the city of Stockton. The missing poster states the following:

Jessica was last seen on January 15, 2008 wearing blue jeans, a bright purple t-shirt, and a Southpole multi colored zippered sweatshirt jacket. She has red highlights in her hair. Jessica wears braces.1

According to an article written on Record.net, even though Jessica has not contacted her family, a man giving his name as 'Angel' did. He advised the family that Jessica is with a man who could be a danger to her. There was no other information given by the police department describing the nature of that danger.2

Jessica is a 12-year-old Hispanic female with brown eyes and brown hair with red highlights. She is 5'1" tall and weighs approximately 110 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Unit at (209) 468-4400.

I hope this young girl is found safe. Any updates will be posted here.

Saturday January 19, 2008:

Jessica was located safe on Friday afternoon after she made a call to her mother. Thankfully Jessica was able to sneak out of the home while the suspect was still in the residence. She made her way to a convenience store about a mile away from the residence where she was being held captive and asked to borrow a stranger's cell phone to call her mother.

Jessica initially left her home on Tuesday to meet up with a man she met on a telephone chat line. Her mother said eventually she was not allowed to leave the man's home.

Jessica is safe and the 20-year-old man in under arrest for suspicion of child abduction as well as other charges.3
