Missing and Murdered Children

Sixteen-year-old Melina Perry is missing and police believe she may be with her boyfriend, nineteen-year-old Devan Meeks.  At issue is police believe Devan Meeks fatally stabbed a man who was caring for Melina. They would like to activate an Amber Alert but they are unable to do so at this time because they cannot determine if Melina went willingly with Meeks or if she was taken against her will.

I don't understand why an Amber Alert cannot be activated in this case. She is a minor whether she went willingly or not - she is with a 'person of interest' in an alleged murder. They have pictures of both Perry and Meeks and a vehicle description as well. I believe they should activate the Amber Alert and fill in the circumstances later.

Apparently what led up to the alleged murder is yesterday Meeks came to the home of 43-year-old David Davis of Winnie, Texas where Melina Perry was staying. Melina is the daughter of Davis' friend. Davis apparently told Meeks he did not want him around his home anymore and that is when the stabbing took place.

Someone delivering Davis' newspaper noticed smoke coming from the home and when they looked inside they saw Davis' body on the floor. He had been stabbed in the neck, back, and back of the head.¹

Melina Perry is described as a white female, 5'4, and 150 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. Meeks is also a suspect in the theft of a family member's grey 2000 Chevrolet single cab truck with Texas license plate 76Y-WX5.
