Well, I Left Her in the Car…
08.15.10: Castillo Guilty of Murder - Sentence - Life Without Parole
Original Post: June 17, 2009Last Updated: 06.21.2010View Sources
This story is eerily similar to the October 2008 disappearance of two-year-old Tangena Hussain in Michigan. She has never been found.
Last night Gary, Indiana police received a call about a missing two-year-old female. According to the babysitter, Angelica Castillo, 18, she left the toddler in her car while she ran into a the Glen Park Gas Station, at 1401 E. Ridge Rd. in Gary, Indiana to purchase a gallon of milk and cigarettes. According to the babysitter, when she returned to the vehicle the child was gone. She called police at 9:30p.m.
According to the child’s mother, the babysitter is her cousin and her daughter has been staying with the cousin for about eight days. She says the last time she spoke to her daughter it was either Thursday or Friday.
I don’t know. If I had left my two-year-old with relatives for a planned two-week summer stay I think I would be calling my child each night to say good-night and to see how she was adjusting to the visit. I watched the video of the interview with the mother and she seems sort of detached about the whole thing. I could not see if she was crying real tears or not because of the sunglasses she was wearing during the interview. The father seems more concerned and has made statement that he does not believe the babysitter’s account of what happened.
“I think it was more like, ‘I made a mistake, I did something,’” said Jada’s father Clarence Justice. “To me, that’s the vibes I got is like, ‘I did something.’ I don’t want to speak on it, I don’t want to speak on the worst.’”
“I don’t know. I don’t know what to feel. There are so many different speculations,” said Jada’s mother Melissa Swiontek. “I feel like I’m going to find her. I mean, I do feel like she can’t be gone, like it’s not even happening.”1
As in the Hussain disappearance, there is no video to show what went on at the vehicle.
However, in this disappearance witnesses have come forward stating they did not see a child in the car. The storekeeper stated the babysitter was only in the store a little over a minute and search dogs have not picked up Jada’s scent at the gas station. I don’t know how search dogs work but maybe they can’t pick up a scent because it was raining that night.
Other concerns involve fresh burns on the boyfriend’s arms and face for which he has not given a reasonable explanation. The boyfriend and babysitter are still being questioned by Gary, Indiana police.
Strangely enough as of this evening an AMBER Alert has not been issued for the this child. Michigan authorities issued an AMBER Alert for Tangena when she was reported missing under similar circumstances. I don’t suppose an AMBER Alert will help in this situation anyway. It didn’t help find Tangena.
If you know the whereabouts of Jada Justice or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance you are asked to call either the Hobart, Indiana Police Department at 1-219-942-1125 or the F.B.I. hotline at 317-639-3301.

Jada is a 2-year-old black female. She is 2’2″ tall and weighs 35lbs. Jada has brown eyes and black hair. Her date of birth is August 3, 2006. When last seen Jada was wearing an orange skirt and striped shirt.
The FBI has entered the case as of this evening. They are treating the case as a possible abduction. Law enforcement, the FBI, and family members converged on the convenience store property this evening. They were searching the area and handing out Jada’s picture.
Law enforcement are trying to put together a time line. They are asking people to come forward and tell them the last time they saw Jada, where she was, and who she was with at the time.
Police plan to charge the 18-year-old babysitter with felony child neglect for leaving Jada in the car unattended. Police also served a search warrant on the babysitter’s home. The took away some articles of clothing.
Sunday June 21, 2009
There really isn’t much to write about regarding Jada’s disappearance. By that I mean she is still ‘missing’. Police do not buy into the claim the babysitter, Angelica Castillo, of how Jada disappeared. The home the 18-year-old former gang member shares with her boyfriend was searched. Investigators did some digging in the backyard of the home; however, they determined the child was not buried there.
Angelica Castillo was arrested on charges of felony child neglect, but the charges were later dropped.
Police believe there are witnesses out there who know what happened to Jada. They may have witnessed something that they don’t realize is important to the investigation. They are asking for the public’s help. They want to know the following information:
Police are looking for anyone who may have seen her (Angelica Castillo) or her boyfriend, Tim Tkachik, between Sunday June 14 and Tuesday June 16. They may have been driving either a 1991 maroon Cadillac Fleetwood or a 1999 Chevy Tahoe…
…”We believe there are individuals who have information important to this investigation who have not yet come forward because they did not feel their information was important, they thought someone else may have reported it, or they believe it was not relevant,” said Deputy Chief Jeff White, Hobart Police.2
(The bold text in the quote above was added by me for clarification purposes).
Police announced there would be no search conducted for Jada today. They did not give a reason for halting the search; however, they did say the search would resume tomorrow. I don’t know, maybe the search was put on hold because it is Father’s Day.
Jada’s mother, Melissa Swiontek, issued a plea in the media on Friday night.
“I have no idea. I just want her home. I have no idea. She just needs to come home. Somebody has an idea. Somebody knows something and they need to talk,” said Melissa Swiontek, Jada’s (sic) mothe.3
Rewards & Contacts
The family is offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to Jada’s recovery.
- FBI: 1-800-FBI
- Gary Police Commander Anthony Titus: (219) 881-1237, (219) 881-1229, (219) 881-1209 or (219) 881-1210.
The FBI is treating Jada’s disappearance as a possible abduction. Gary and Hobart Police contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to see if an AMBER Alert could now be issued for Jada. The answer was no, that Jada’s disappearance does not meet their criteria for an AMBER Alert. OK, I am scratching my head once again regarding the decision of who qualifies for an AMBER Alert.
Gary police contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, but learned the case involving Jada did not meet the criteria for an AMBER Alert because investigators do not have detailed information on a suspect.4
I say BULL***.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has recently issued AMBER Alerts in the following cases on their AMBER Alert site:
- Haleigh Cummings – Florida No longer active: Still Missing
She was discovered missing from her Florida home in the middle of the night in February 2009. There were no witnesses to her alleged abduction and no suspects or suspect vehicle. The AMBER Alert is still in effect. - Daisja Weaver – Texas No longer active: Daisja’s father was tried and found guilty of Daisja’s murder. Her body still has not been found.
Daisjai’s mother reported that her child was abducted in the middle of the night from her apartment by an unknown Hispanic male wearing a hoodie type sweatshirt. He allegedly tried to sexually assault the woman and when she fought him off the suspect grabbed her baby and escaped over the balcony.
During the investigation the mother came forward and told authorities that she and the baby’s father threw the child’s body in the local river after the father killed the child. Both parents are in jail. The body has not been found. Why is the AMBER Alert still in effect? - Emanuel Guzman – Colorado No longer active: Still Missing
In the Guzman case, the non-custodial parents are the suspects and they are wanted for child abuse. At the time the child was reported missing CPS had just been given jurisdiction over the child because the parents failed to make a court appearance. In my opinion, the NCMEC has issued this AMBER Alert to help CPS in Colorado clean up their mess. Emmanuel had gone to the hospital with severe burns on his hands. For whatever reason he was allowed to go home with his parents. The burns happened in April of this year and the court date that was missed was in May. In my opinion, CPS should have been given at least temporary custody of Emmanuel and placed in a foster home at least so he could get care for his burns. Burns caused by child abuse have patterns indicating intentional or deliberate injury to the child. - Gabriela Patricia Velazquez – North Carolina Located safe on June 22, 2009
Police think Gabriela, 14, was maybe taken from the Monroe County National Guard Armory by Ciro Alonso Salina, 20. They don’t have a description of a vehicle or direction of travel. They also do not have a picture of Salina. Gabriela is described as a Hispanic girl, 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes and a birthmark on her right calf. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and high heels. Salina is described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black dress pants and black shoes. Police ask if you see them or recognize their names making purchases call 9-1-1.
Does this case rise to the AMBER Alert criteria? We don’t know if Gabriela left of her own accord. There is no picture of the suspect. Many Hispanic males could fit Salina’s physical description.
- Tangena Hussain – Michigan No longer active: Still Missing, Tangena’s mother left the United States and returned to her country of Bangladesh. The boyfriend was tried and found guilty of a sex offense against a teenager. He is currently serving time on that conviction.
The circumstances of Tangena’s disappearance are almost identical to Jada’s disappearance. The mother’s boyfriend stopped at a gas station convenience store to purchase juice and gum. He left 2-year-old Tangena in the car parked on the side of the convenience store. He claims the doors to the car were locked. When he returned a few minutes later to the car Tangena was no longer in the vehicle. Instead of calling authorities right away, the boyfriend drove to a mall to pick up the girl’s mother from work. They then drove to back to the gas station and notified authorities. Tangena has not been found. Her AMBER Alert no longer appears on the NCMEC site.
Out of the five cases listed above with AMBER Alert status only two cases had suspect information. The other three cases, Weaver, Cummings and Hussain had no suspect information.
Somebody is not telling the truth regarding the AMBER Alert issue as far as Jada’s case is concerned. Here is the answer to the question from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on who issues AMBER Alerts:
Does NCMEC issue AMBER Alerts?
NCMEC releases AMBER Alerts to secondary distributors, once we are notified by law enforcement that an Alert has been released for a specific geographical area. Once NCMEC validates the AMBER Alert, it is entered into a secure system and transmitted to authorized secondary distributors for dissemination to customers within the geographic areas specified.
Secondary distributors are defined as companies, businesses, or organizations that have the capability to deliver geographically targeted messages to their customers; and have a signed Memorandum of Understanding with NCMEC. Internet service providers (ISPs) are an example of secondary distributors.
Only law enforcement can initiate and release AMBER Alerts for primary distribution.5
The emphasis is mine in the above quote. Who is telling the truth or misleading the public?

Police received a tip this afternoon that led them to a field in LaPorte county, Indiana. The location is approximately thirty miles from the gas station where Jada was reportedly last seen. A body was found there this afternoon – it is believed to be the body of missing Jada Justice. A coroner was called to the scene. Authorities say they have two people in custody. If the investigation goes as planned may come as soon as Friday.
June 28, 2009
No matter how long I write about missing and murdered children I don’t think I will ever get over how utterly cruel people can be, especially when the children murdered are related to the accused.
Engelica Castillo and her boyfriend were arrested last Friday morning and charged with murder among other lesser charges in connection with the death of 2-year-old Jada Justice. Engelica is or was Jada’s older cousin. Jada was left in her care for what was supposed to be a six week stay while Jada’s mother went out-of-town.
According to the interview with police Engelica’s boyfriend, Timothy Tkachik, claims Engelica is the one who administered the series of blows to Jada’s body and head that took her life, the last blow sending her head into contact with a nearby table.
Tkachik claims that one morning in June, Engelica became upset with Jada because of an issue with potty training and she began to spank Jada. When Jada refused to cry from the spanking this upset Engelica and she proceeded to strike the child about the head and pull her hair. At some point Jada fell striking her head on a table. Still not happy with Jada’s behavior, Engelica stood Jada in a corner for a ‘time out’. Jada was not complying so Engelica proceeded to rap the child in the head with her knuckles.
Oh wait, I forgot to mention, this was happening the morning after Engelica and Tkachik did several lines of heroin the night before.
At some point that afternoon it was time for the couple to go out a score some more heroin so they put Jada in her car seat and left to run that little errand. According to Tkachik while driving to the connection’s house they realized Jada was no longer breathing. They drove back to the house and went inside with the child and tried to administer CPR but it did not work. Doing what any normal person would do, Tkachik, noticing the bumps and bruises all over Jada’s body, decided to place Jada inside three garbage bags and put her body in the basement. They then went out to continue with their heroin purchase, returned home and went to bed for the night.
Just like any addict’s worst nightmare, when they awoke they realized the nightmare was really their life and they still had to figure out what to do with Jada’s body. Of course, the only thing to do was to burn her body. So they set off to purchase a metal trash can, propane and charcoal. After making their purchase they set off to a remote area where they found a hole. Tkachik placed Jada’s body inside the hole still encased in the garbage bags. Something happened with the fire when he threw the lit charcoal bag in the hole and the fire exploded in his face. That is where he got those burns he had so much trouble explaining. After still failing to rid themselves of Jada’s body, they decided to leave her there and go do some more heroin to help them think better.
Tkachik went back out and retrieved Jada’s partially burned body and placed it in the back of his truck. He then went to purchase a plastic container and cement and went back to the house. He took Jada’s body back down to the basement and there he encased her body in cement inside of the plastic container, using a space heater to speed up the hardening of the cement. When the cement had hardened enough he and Engelica went to a former haunt of Tkachik’s father. I use this term loosely. Many years ago when the Tkachik was still a child his father took his mother and his aunt to the same spot and shot them dead. He then turned the gun on himself. This is the area Tkachik chose for Jada’s final resting place. He brought along a power saw of some sort so he could cut away the plastic from the cement. (He did not want to leave any fingerprints behind). Then he and Engelica shoved Jada’s cement encased body into the swamp. With the dirty deed accomplished they decided it was time for Engelica to give her Camille-like performance at the Gary, Indiana gas station feigning Jada’s abduction.
It not only makes me weary to relate this story, it sickens me as well.
Trial Dates
Engelica Castillo will be the first of two co-defendants to stand trial for Jada Justice’s murder. Her trial date is set for December 7, 2009. Castillo is charged with murder, neglect of a dependent, battery and false informing for the June 2009 death of 2-year-old Jada Justice.
October 26, 2009
Castillo’s trial date has been pushed back to March 2010 because prosecutors have decided to pursue a sentence of life without the possibility of parole for her. The defense claims it will take more time and money now to prepare for the defense. They will have to hire experts regarding mitigating circumstances. This means experts who will look into Castillo’s childhood to see if there were problems in her childhood that could have caused her to murder Jada. Yep.
June 21, 2010
Timothy Tkachik, the co-defendant in Jada’s murder entered a plea of guilty today to two counts of neglect of a dependent. In exchange for the plea arrangement, the prosecution has dropped charges of murder, battery, and false reporting. Tkchik has also agreed to cooperate with prosecutors by testifying against his girlfriend, Engelica Castillo in her murder trial later this summer.

Is it Caylee?
It has been a foregone conclusion for quite some time, by most people watching the events unfold surrounding the disappearance of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, that she is most likely deceased. Furthermore, most believe that Caylee met her fate at the hands of her mother, Casey Anthony, now jailed and charged with a variety of crimes including murder in the first degree.
I have been of the opinion that Caylee most likely did meet her death at the hands of a family member. I am just not sure that Casey acted alone. Don’t ask me why I feel the way I do because I don’t know why.
Yesterday, a child’s skeletal remains were found by a utility worker in a wooded area about 1/4 of a mile from the Anthony home. During tonight’s news broadcast the reporter covering the story put more emphasis on just how close to the Anthony home those remains were located. According to the reporter the location is just twenty houses from the Anthony home; close enough to walk to the spot in just 3 minutes.
Investigators privately believe the remains recovered do belong to Caylee because of the size of the skull, the condition of the remains (decomposition appears to be approximately six months) and of course the close proximity to the Anthony home.
Investigators sought a search warrant for the Anthony home today and notified the Anthony family of the find.
From www.myfoxkc.com:
Allen Moore, a spokesman for the Orange County jail, said Casey Anthony was told about the discovery. She was placed under psychological observation, not suicide watch, and remains under protective custody. Her attorney, Jose Baez, was at the jail for about 90 minutes Thursday.
George and Cindy Anthony appeared on Larry King Live Wednesday evening. They still cling to the belief their granddaughter is still alive and believe in the reported sightings of their granddaughter. They had plans to travel to Newport Beach, California to check out one of the sightings while in California for the Larry King show. When they received notification from law enforcement of Thursday’s discovery of skeletal remains they returned to Florida.
Casey Anthony’s trial was set to begin January 5, 2009; however, the judge granted Jose Baez’s motion to move the trial to March. Earlier this week the prosecution indicated they would not be seeking the death penalty against Anthony.
I would imagine if the remains found on Thursday turn out to be those of Caylee Marie Anthony, the state will change it’s mind about the death penalty. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 90 minute attorney/client visit had some discussion about trying to reach a plea agreement.
No matter how this turns out, no matter who’s remains were left in a plastic bag, in the water, in the woods, it was a cruel thing to do to a child. If it is not Caylee, then somewhere there is another person who is guilty of murdering another innocent child.
- December 12, 2008
- Preliminary reports indicate that remains found in a wooded area of Orlando are most likely those of missing toddler, Caylee Anthony. During the coroner’s preliminary examination clues from the remains link the remains to the Anthony home. Investigators removed several pieces of possible evidence from the Anthony home including four vacuum cleaners, and a pesticide canister. Sheriff Beary stated DNA identification of the remains will take at least seven to fourteen days.
On another note, I was wondering yesterday when this story broke what the utility worker was doing in the wooded area. Well, he was ‘relieving himself’ according to media accounts. He saw the trash bag and kicked it causing the skull to roll out onto the ground. He called 911. Nature calls at the strangest times.
- 5:30p.m. PST
- I really do not know what to make of the following quote:
Casey Anthony was told about the discovery in jail on Thursday, and was placed under psychological observation — not suicide watch. Her attorney, Jose Baez, visited her and said Friday she was “struggling” with the news.
“We’re doing our best to keep her focused,” Baez said.
Of course Mr. Baez is not going to elaborate on why his client is “struggling” with the news. I wonder what it is they are trying to keep her focused. Are they trying to make sure she does not jump the gun and confess before the autopsy results and DNA evidence are confirmed? Do they want to make sure they have an out as far as cause of death? If the remains do belong to Caylee and if there is no evidence of trauma then there will be no proof of a murder.
I just thought Baez’s choice of words was interesting.
- December 14, 2008
- Jose Baez and a group of his defense experts descended on the Anthony home yesterday, spending about two hours inside the home going over the list of items removed by the sheriff’s department. Although they were allowed to go inside the Anthony home, when the team walked to the site of the find of the remains they were not allowed to step across the crime tape. Baez was not happy about being barred from the area.

“The best defense is full disclosure,” Baez said. “It’s not after something has been not the way it was.”
I would like to ask Mr. Baez how many times in his career has he had the opportunity to examine one of his client’s fresh crime scenes. I am going to guess most defense attorney’s obtain information about a crime scene after the fact.
I think the DNA match is only going to be a mere legal and scientific formality and all concerned already know the remains found on Thursday are those of Caylee Marie Anthony. George and Cindy Anthony were whisked away on Friday and remain in what I would call seclusion. Their spokesperson, Michelle Bart, has advised them to remain in their hotel and not talk to the press.
The most revealing indicator that the remains are those of Caylee Marie Anthony is the following comment made by Jose Baez during a press conference on Saturday:

Baez conceded that it is likely that 2-year-old Caylee Anthony’s remains were found. “We’re certainly preparing as if it and moving forward as if it is,” he said.
Speaking of how Casey is reacting to the news of the discovery:

“She’s not doing well at all,” Baez said about Casey Anthony. “She wants to know what’s going on, and it’s not something that she can do right now. I can’t imagine a more difficult situation for a mother to be in than the one she’s in right now.”
I can imagine what Casey wants to know. She probably wants to know what exactly was found that would link her to the remains.
- December 19, 2008
The definitive answer to the question many in the country have been awaiting was given today during a news conference held in Florida this afternoon. The answer is yes, the remains discovered in a wooded area a mere three minute walk from the Anthony home, are those of toddler Caylee Marie Anthony.
The coroner indicated the identification was made through a DNA match of known genetic material from Caylee Anthony. She ruled the cause of death as homicide by unknown means. There were no signs of trauma to the skull or to the many little bones recovered from the crime scene prior to death. Toxicology tests have not yet been completed.
The man who discovered Caylee’s remains, utility worker Roy Kronk, came forward today during a news conference. His attorney stated his client decided reveal his identity was so the media would not harass his co-workers.
From www.tampabays10.com:
Roy Kronk said Friday that he found the remains while working near the home of Caylee’s grandparents. He says he also had notified authorities in August that he had “spotted something suspicious — a bag” in the same area.
He declined to elaborate further, saying only that he continues to cooperate with the investigation.
And what about Casey? The prison chaplain notified Casey of the positive identification just prior to the news conference. At the time of the notification she was meeting with one of attorneys. The sheriff’s office did not release any information about Casey’s reaction to the news. However, the family pastor was turned away when he arrived to meet with Casey. Thus far there has been no comment issued by George and Cindy Anthony.
There is a story published in the Inquirer that quotes a former schoolmate of Casey Anthony. She claims she told investigators to search the area where Caylee’s remains were ultimately found because back in grade school that is where Casey used to bury her dead pets.
Tim Miller, founder or Texas EquuSearch was interviewed by telephone. He said he had believed for quite some time that Caylee was dead. He had been of the belief that Caylee’s remains would never be recovered. He is glad they were recovered and he hopes there can be a public funeral held for Caylee.
Soon after the remains were found and before today’s identification the Anthony family indicated they would continue to support their daughter. I wonder if their support will change now.
Poor Caylee, just like too many other children under the age of five, her life was too short. It is really sad she will only be remembered as a missing child making the cover of People magazine and being a murder victim.

Investigators concluded their examination of the crime scene on Saturday. They allowed people to enter the area; however, they posted “No Parking” signs in the area. People were cautioned that violation of the no parking law would meet with cars being towed and/or a citation.Prior to releasing the crime scene investigators contacted the Anthony defense team to offer them the opportunity to examine the area. The defense team declined the offer.
Soon after leaving the crime scene investigators arrived at the Anthony home serving yet another search warrant. George and Cindy Anthony stayed at the home while the nearly two hour search was conducted. Investigators left with two large boxes and two large bags. Information derived from the crime scene over the past few days prompted the need for another warrant. Investigators indicated they located what they were looking for without elaborating. News accounts described George Anthony’s appearance as “visibly upset”.

Caylee Anthony and News Coverage
Last week I was visiting my friend and I think she had Inside Edition or another of those tabloid shows playing on the television. All of a sudden the current week’s cover of People Magazine flashed on the screen. My friend said “Who is that cute little girl?” I knew right away who that cute little girl was and I was very surprised to see her face gracing the cover of People Magazine.
My friend and I had discussed Calyee’s disappearance over the past few weeks. She is not one to pay attention to missing children cases because they are just so sad. Like so many people in this world they would rather not address the missing in this country. They would rather focus on the antics of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears or get excited about the Olympics. And of course there is always politics.
So anyway, I keep my friend up-to-date on the current cases and I told her that the cute little girl was Caylee Anthony, the toddler missing from Orlando, Florida. My friend has her opinions about Caylee’s mother and what should happen with her. She thinks her parents, Cindy and George Anthony should refuse to visit their daughter and basically turn their backs on her until she reveals what happened to their granddaughter. I am pretty much in agreement with that because on the surface it appears that Casey Anthony is either playing games or she is trying to draw as many people as possible into her world of drama. All at the expense of her baby. And of course that is if her daughter is still alive.
I have been writing for several years now about missing and murdered children on this blog and I have covered cases where I really was dumbfounded at how cruel and unfeeling people could be when it comes to their own children. I have to say I am once again in that place. I am also quite angry with the grandparents and their apparent lack of gratitude with the immense news coverage their case has received from the main stream media. The main stream media covering this story include Fox, CNN, and MSNBC. The Associated Press has picked up the story so that means there is even more coverage from the other news agencies who pick up the AP feeds.
I first was struck by the ungrateful attitude of Cindy Anthony when she first appeared on Greta Van Susteren’s cable news show On the Record. I watched the web cast and just about the first thing out of Cindy Anthony’s mouth was her request to Greta to not has her ‘stupid questions’. Later, when pressed with a hard question, had Cindy point-blank asked Casey where Caylee is; I was shocked at the response given. She told Greta that she was tired and was about ready to pass out. If Greta wanted her to pass out to increase the ratings then she would oblige her. Greta was gracious with her reply and suggested the interview end, perhaps to continue tomorrow evening. Cindy told her she would be busy the next day. I really do believe Greta was less than amused.1
I did a check on the Google search engine Sunday afternoon of the name “Caylee Anthony” to see how many hits would come up. It was a combined total of 46 pages of news and blogs. The breakdown between news and blogs was 12 pages of news and 34 pages of blogs. So not only is Caylee receiving attention in the main stream media; her name is all over the internet. It is claimed that the issue of People Magazine with Caylee’s picture will reach an estimated 42 million readers.
A few things have prompted me to not write about Caylee’s disappearance over the past few weeks. One reason was I figured she was getting plenty of coverage and I do try to write about the missing children not getting coverage or very little coverage. The other reason is Cindy Anthony’s attitude with the media. Her flip replies when they ask serious questions. When asked by one reporter about the bruises spoken of during the bond hearing; her reply was to point out a bruise on her leg and retort: ‘I have a bruise on my leg; does that mean I am abused?’
What prompted me to finally write this entry was the comment I read on Orlando television station website Local6 made by George Anthony regarding the People Magazine article.
“Don’t look at the article that is in People magazine and formulate, ‘Oh my God, this and that and whatever,’” George Anthony said. “The article was not put together how we were told it was going to be put together. Again, we have gotten blindsided. My family got blindsided.”2
Cindy Antony continually tells reporters that the story is not about them, not about their daughter, it is about finding Caylee. Now, George Anthony comes out and criticizes the biggest break to get Caylee’s face out there. Doctor and dentist offices, and beauty salons all have waiting areas where they have People Magazine. All the Anthony’s can think about is how bad this article made their daughter look. Trust me, their daughter looked bad to the public long before the People Magazine hit the newsstands. The consensus is Casey either gave that baby away to someone to get back at her mother, sold her, or as it is looking more apparent, she killed her daughter.
There are so many children missing in this country, parents would sell their souls to get just 1/10th of the coverage Caylee has received and all the Anthony’s can do is complain about the type of coverage received and how it does not meet their standards. Also, apparently Cindy Anthony will go to any length to get police to come to her home – even by not telling the truth.
I understand people are not shown in their best light when experiencing high stress, but maybe someone else should be the spokesperson for this family.
I hope Caylee is still alive and is found soon. I hope Casey did not do the unthinkable. It is not looking good at all.

After an incredibly difficult week for George Anthony where he shouted at the media on more than one occasion, it was announced today that the Anthony family now has an official spokesperson. I say it is about time someone spoke to the media besides the Anthony family because every time they open their mouths say sound nuttier than the last time.
The new spokesperson is Larry Garrison, owner of SilverCreek Entertainment, and an experienced spokesperson for other high-profile cases. He spoke on behalf family of missing teen Natalee Holloway as well as for the family of John Mark Karr. John Mark Karr came to national attention when he confessed to the murder of 5-year-old JonBenet Ramsey. DNA evidence proved he could not have been the killer.3
Also, it was announced today that Casey Anthony’s attorney has convinced a California Bounty Hunter to put up Casey’s bail. Leonard Padilla and his nephew will fly to Orlando on Sunday and post the $500,000 bond so Casey can be released from custody.4
She will still be under house arrest according to conditions previously placed on her at her bond hearing; and she will also have to wear a GPS ankle bracelet. Her parents have said all along, if Casey could just get out of jail then she could lead them to where their granddaughter is located. It is going to take a pretty good magic trick for her to lead them anywhere while she is under house arrest. I think bailing Casey out of jail is the wrong thing to do. However, this story is going to play out until the bitter end.
Most likely Casey will be released sometime Monday.
I don’t recall where I read this little tidbit of Florida law but this is how it goes. If Casey’s lawyer insists on a speedy trial for his client regarding the current charges of child neglect and lying to authorities the most she could get would be about 5 years. So say she is tried for these crimes and found either guilty or innocent and later it is found Caylee was murdered at the hand of her mother. Casey will walk. The reason she would walk is the neglect charge would tie into the murder charge and Casey can’t be tried twice for the same crime. I will try to find the link.

OK, so Casey has been out of jail for about a week or almost a week, but certainly long enough to tell what she did with her daughter. However, the secrets and the circus continues.
When Casey got out of jail she was mobbed by the press; which should not have been a great surprise to anyone, especially her attorney. But, it was a surprise, he was disappointed or some such thing about the way the media acted. He threatened to ban certain media outlets from interviews if they continue to act in the perceived aggressive fashion. I suggest that perhaps the obvious thing for Mr. Baez to have done, and in the best interest of his client would have been to either escort Casey out the back way of the jail or use a decoy. No, he decided to parade her in front of the media.
The circus continued with the bounty hunter explaining that Mr. Baez has instructed him to not ask his client any questions. He also has instructed his client to not answer any questions posed to her by the bounty hunter. Apparently the plans the bounty hunter had in the beginning have changed. He had planned to stay inside the Anthony residence and talk to Casey after she had a hot shower and painted her nails so she would feel again like a human being. All that has happened is Casey wanted the hot shower and a pizza was ordered. Mr. Bounty Hunter has been banished to a mobile home in the Anthony driveway. I guess George and Cindy Anthony and Casey got what they wanted out of the bounty hunter – the bailout.
He does claim he thinks he knows what happened to little Caylee. He thinks Casey handed Caylee off to one of her friends so she could get away from her parents. He is going to give that friend a deadline to turn Caylee over and if that deadline is not met he will come after the ‘friend’.
Another Prayer Vigil was held tonight for Caylee in the Anthony’s yard and Casey stayed in the house. Supposedly her attorney advised for her safety that she not attend. I say she should have attended. She needs to get another attorney as well.
I will leave you with this great quote from Cindy Anthony from tonight’s vigil:
“…Cindy spoke about her faith. “I understand why my daughter is so calm. I understand why she is so calm, because I am there with her. I am calm because I get it. I cant do anything about it. She can’t do anything about it. I have to trust in God,” said Cindy Anthony…”
Again, poor Caylee.

“What (The Body Farm) found is that there is an indication of human decomposition from the trunk of Casey Anthony’s car,” Local 6′s Jessica D’Onofrio reported. “They are indicating that there certainly was human decomposition in the trunk.”Earlier today Mr. Bounty Hunter said that if he knew then what he knows now he would not have helped in getting Casey released from jail. He said he has been unable to speak to Casey and after reading the 400 pages of discovery information released, that pretty much sealed his opinion about her release from jail.5
I am wondering how he feels now that the human decomposition information has been confirmed.
Again, poor Caylee. I hope they find her body so she can have a decent burial. Someone knows where she is; I am not so sure that one of the grandparents don’t know something.
Other news agencies are reporting that there currently is a plea agreement being offered. If Casey
tellsadmits Caylee died as a result of an accident then information she provides would not be used to prosecute her. The offer is only good for 24 hoursuntil Tuesday. Supposedly investigators showed up at Jose Baez’s office this afternoon to make the offer. Casey left soon after the investigators arrived.Cindy Anthony arrived at Baez’s office after Casey left. Cindy left with Jose Baez. He said he will be making a statement at the Anthony home later today.

Mr. Padilla needs some sort of pills to calm himself down. Just days ago he claimed he was sorry he had anything to do with bailing Casey out of jail. As late as this morning he told the press he was in the process of having Casey’s bail revoked. However, an hour later he told the press Casey would not be going back to jail. This was after he spent an hour speaking to Casey’s attorney, Jose Baez. Mr. Padilla claims the reasons for wanting Casey back in jail were because of repeated phoned death threats to the family. After speaking to Jose Baez, Padilla now says the ‘security concerns’ have been resolved.
Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch has arrived in Orlando to aid in the search for Caylee. Tim Miller came at the request of Cindy and George Anthony. Miller’s organization is usually used in body recovery efforts. Either Cindy and George Anthony know Caylee is dead, have been told the truth by Casey that her daughter is dead, or they have finally came to the realization that Caylee is not going to be found alive.
The search with Texas EquuSearch will begin on Saturday.

Sometimes I wonder if things would have turned out better for Caylee and Casey if Cindy Anthony had not insisted on Casey keeping her baby. Cindy may have thought that by insisting Casey keep her baby, it would make her grow up. I doubt that was the real reason. I think Cindy Anthony wanted to raise the baby. Anyway, Casey did not grow up or into the responsibility and she stayed the same way her mother described her to friends:
A sociopath, a chronic liar, someone to not have as a friend.
Casey was arrested once again tonight. The charges are forgery, fraudulent use of personal information and petty theft. The charges stem from Casey taking checks and accessing her friend’s bank account while said friend was in Puerto Rico on vacation. The amount if I recall correctly is about $700. Her friend filed the charges when Casey was being questioned about Caylee’s disappearance. The bail amount on these charges is $3,000. I hope they keep her in jail on these charges. There were protesters outside the Anthony home this evening when the police arrived to arrest Casey. Earlier in the day George Anthony lost his temper with a couple of guys who set up lawn chairs and an umbrella on his property. He tore up the stuff and George’s pastor had to hold him back from getting physical with the two guys. What a mess this woman has caused to everyone.

Tim Miller and his EquuSearch crew were in Florida today searching swamps and other areas relating to tips received. The turnout for the search volunteers was disappointing when an expected 1,000 only produced 100 volunteers. There will be another search held tomorrow. The area of the search is around Orlando International Airport
Also, since Casey’s arrest last evening the Padilla’s revoked the bail for the child neglect charges. I wonder if they will be packing up and going back home to California now that their work is finished in Florida. Casey was also arraigned today regarding the forgery and petty theft charges. Her bond was set at $3,000. I don’t know, maybe Mr. Baez will bail her out this time. He thinks she is such a victim of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. This time he didn’t like the way Casey was arrested on the latest charges. He claimed the Sheriff’s Department turned her arrest into a spectacle and used the media. Wake up Mr. Baez. Your client is a common criminal.
George and Cynthia Anthony were both served with subpoenas to testify at their daughter’s scheduled November trial for the child neglect charges.
This story keeps getting stranger and stranger if that is possible. The 12-year-old girl who decided to come forward and arrange the prayer vigils for Caylee has been hospitalized for a stress reaction. She had to be hospitalized after she learned that the air samples came back positive for human decomposition and the hair samples from the trunk match Caylee’s.
Her grandmother says she is devastated by the news. Apparently Casey has been trying to bond with this little girl – even emailing her and telling her she loves her. The girl bought Casey and teddy bear. Casey thanked her in the email and stated she named the bear after Dakota. She has even bought her a bracelet that says something about sister and friend. How did she go buy the bracelet for this little girl? I suppose she could have purchased the items on line and then had them shipped to her. Either way this is just another example of Casey’s inability to make appropriate choices.

Two hundred searchers showed up today to aid in the search. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies are also aiding in today’s search.
Also today was the first time investigators acknowledged that evidence other than air samples confirmed the presence of Caylee’s decomposing body in the trunk of Casey’s car.
A lead investigator in the case told WESH 2′s Bob Kealing that lab results indicated Caylee’s dead body was in the trunk of that car. Sources also confirmed that a stain in the trunk was not what clinched the decision that Caylee was in the trunk, but it was the strands of hair that investigators suspected all along were Caylee’s. -

Tonight Orange County Sheriff’s are backpedaling on earlier reports that Caylee Anthony is dead. They are now saying the following:
Orange County sheriff’s deputies said Sunday they are not ready to confirm that missing Caylee Anthony is dead or that her body was in the trunk of her mother’s car. Also, the turnout of volunteers for the search today for Caylee was described in the news as ‘dismal’. There were only about 200 people when usually a search will have a turnout of about 1,000 or more. I don’t know why people would not go out and search. It is my feeling that if people are willing to go to the Anthony home and protest; they should also be willing to go out and search for Caylee no matter what their feelings toward the Anthony family. That baby needs to be found. I don’t live in Florida so I can’t be there. Maybe it is because of the holiday weekend that people would not come out to search.

Casey Anthony will soon once again walk out of jail.
“Casey Anthony is being bailed out of jail. The individual posting the bond prefers to remain anonymous and is doing it because of the belief that Ms. Anthony’s Constitutional rights have been grossly violated. Mr. Baez will have no comment about the bond and will respect the privacy of the anonymous party,” the Press Corp. Media release said.
The conditions will still be the same; Casey has to wear the ankle bracelet and a psychological evaluation must be conducted.
Meanwhile, earlier today, Cindy Anthony trashed Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch. I just don’t get it. In other coverage it was claimed that Cindy Anthony called Tim Miller and asked him to bring his organization to Florida to aid in the search for her granddaughter. Now that Tim Miller has decided that Caylee is most likely no longer alive, and has expressed his displeasure with Cindy Anthony’s lack of support in the search she has once again lashed out in the media.
I thought the Anthony’s had a spokesperson to keep Cindy and George from looking like complete Jackasses. I guess he is not that great of a handler.

Investigators arrived at the Anthony house early this morning and removed one item of evidence from George Anthony’s vehicle. The item was removed from the spare wheel well area.6
I don’t find this information surprising at all. It is my guess it is the cleaning solvent containing chloroform used to clean the stain in the trunk of Casey’s car. Of course, as I said, this is just a guess on my part.

So information released yesterday indicates the ‘evidence’ retrieved from George Anthony’s vehicle was a handgun. Conditions of Casey’s bail state that she cannot be in possession of weapons or one cannot be on the premises. Supposedly Casey was not aware of the handgun being at her parent’s home.
I say bull****!
George Anthony is an ex-deputy. Certainly he is familiar with conditions of bail as a general rule. If he is not aware of those general rules from his experience as a former deputy peace officer, he certainly must have read those conditions when he and his wife posted bond for Casey on the theft charges.
Are we supposed to believe that George just ‘forgot’ he owned a firearm?
Casey has lived in the home of a police officer for most of her life. She certainly must have read the conditions of her release and the judge must have verbally explained the conditions of her release to her. At least her attorney must have explained things to her. Are we supposed to believe that Casey ‘forgot’ or ‘was not aware’ that her father still owned a firearm? What police officer, even a retired police officer stops carrying a firearm?
The difficult part of this newest information is that the judge decided (get ready to laugh) Casey was telling the truth when she said she did not know the gun was on the property. This is really pathetic that the judge would believe anything coming out of Casey’s mouth. Past information from Casey has proven to be nothing but lies.
Sadly today Tim Miller has made the decision to call of the search of Caylee.
“We know where Caylee’s not at,” said Tim Miller, the group’s founder and director. Miller said the decision to suspend the search was difficult, but that the group will return when conditions are right. “If Caylee’s out there, we are going to find her.”

From www.orlandosentinel.com:
It is being reported today that Zenaida Gonzalez has filed suit against Casey Anthony claiming that statements made insinuating Ms. Gonzalez had something to do with Caylee’s disappearance has damaged Gonzalez’s reputation. She is reportedly suing in excess of $15,000.
Even though Ms. Gonzalez claims she has never met Casey or Caylee and has made a sworn statement to authorities attest to those facts, something is still bothering me about this professed lack of knowledge. The fact still remains that Casey knew not only Zenaida’s name, she also knew the names of Zenaida’s two daughters as well as a description of Zenaida’s vehicle. The attorney for Zenaida explains that away by stating Casey must have obtained access to the information Zenaida filled out earlier this year when inquiring about an apartment at the Sawgrass Apartments. This is just another instance where the story is not ringing true in my mind on either side.

Jose Baez plans to ask a judge on Friday permission to allow Casey to be released from house arrest so she can go out and search for her daughter. He does not want the public to know where she is going to search. The only problem with that is Casey’s house arrest schedule is public record. I don’t know how Jose expects to pull this off. I don’t believe the judge is going to grant that motion. Among other motions he is filing is the following:
Attorney Jose Baez’s request comes along with seven other motions, including one asking for copies of forensic evidence from Casey Anthony’s computer, phone and digital cameras as well as a request to inspect, test and photograph evidence obtained through polygraph tests.
Well, time will tell if the judge sides with Jose.
Texas EquuSearch returned to Florida to search for Caylee’s remains. Hmmm. I wonder if Jose wants Casey to lead Texas EquuSearch to the area where she dumped Caylee’s body. That would be a good reason for not wanting media attention.
Something has been nagging at me since I read part of the report released yesterday regarding the investigation into Caylee’s disappearance.
The only people who can place Caylee physically to a time and place is Cindy Anthony. She has the video of Caylee purportedly taken at the assisted living center on June 15. According to the newly released documents, there is also a sign in sheet from the assisted living center showing Cynthia Anthony’s signature as well as the signature of Cynthia Anthony’s mother. An LVN who works at the facility remembers Caylee being there that day with the two women visiting Cynthia Anthony’s father.
There is no mention of George Anthony or Casey being in attendance for that visit
In another interview George Anthony mentions the last time he saw his daughter and granddaughter was on June 9 when Casey was leaving for work. Both were wearing their backpacks just as they always did when leaving. However, one of the items turned over to investigators that was recovered from the home or the car was Caylee’s backpack.
So, if the last time George Anthony saw his daughter and granddaughter, and Cindy Anthony last had Caylee in her possession on the 15th of June and she has said she had not seen Casey in a month or more, then when did Casey get Caylee in her possession again with her parents not being aware of it?
Out of all of the apartment complexes there are in Orlando, what are the odds that Casey would fabricate a story using an apartment that Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez went to check out earlier this year as a possible rental? Also, during Casey’s questioning she kept saying “I dropped her (Caylee) off in the stairwell like I always did.” It was only after prodding did she state she left Caylee with Zenaida. Maybe Casey dropped Caylee off in the stairwell and left without Zenaida showing up. I was looking at the pictures of the Sawgrass Apartments online and there is a pond near the stairs. Maybe Caylee fell into that pond because she was attracted to the ducks. There is no fencing around that body of water.
Anthony Family Victims
Let’s See…
- Caylee Marie Anthony
- Casey’s biological daughter who has been missing since June 9. Cindy Anthony claims June 15. Casey did not report her disappearance for 31 days.
- Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez
- A complete stranger who Casey has said babysat Caylee and accused of kidnapping her. Zenaida says she has never met Casey or Caylee. Zenaida says she cannot get a job because her name is all over the news and people are hesitant to hire her.
- Universal Studios Orlando
- Casey claimed she worked there even causing the police to go to her imaginary office. Casey worked there but was fired last spring.
- Sawgrass Apartments
- Made up home of Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez and the place Casey claims she dropped her daughter off on June 9.
- Leonard Padilla
- Bounty hunter duped into bailing her out of jail
- Dakota Skii
- Young girl who felt so touched by Caylee’s disappearance that she organized the first prayer vigil. Now hospitalized with a stress reaction to the news that Caylee may be dead.
- Lois Peter
- Dakota’s grandmother. She called the Anthony family to notify them that Dakota had been hospitalized because of the news of the evidence of the dead body. It was said Casey was crying in the background and Lois Peter just told her to tell where Caylee is.
- Anthony Lazarro
- Casey’s boyfriend at the time of Caylee’s disappearance
- Amy
- A friend of Casey’s. The latest arrest relates to Casey stealing $700 in cash and checks from Amy while Amy was away on vacation
- Cindy Anthony’s mother
- Casey’s grandmother. She stole money from her grandmother by using the routing number on a birthday check Casey received.
- Tim Miller
- Tim Miller is the director of Texas EquuSearch. It is a well known search and recovery organization founded by Tim Miller. Tim Miller’s daughter was a victim of murder and Tim Miller created the organization to help other families of missing kids and loved ones. Cindy Anthony contacted Tim Miller and asked for his help in finding Caylee. Now she is trashing his good name.
I will add more to the list later…
Quotes
The quote below is attributed to George Anthony in answer to two men who were at his house. They were sitting on his lawn and he objected to that. The men stated they thought Casey needed to be back in jail and they wanted to be there when that happened.
George Anthony’s unusual response to that statement:
“The person who was in the back of my daughter’s car was not my granddaughter,” George Anthony yelled.
Ok. I don’t know about anyone else, but that seems like a really lame response. It almost sounds as if he is saying, “Yes, I know there was a dead body in the trunk of my daughter’s car, but it’s OK because it wasn’t Caylee.” “This is all just a silly misunderstanding.”
Cindy Anthony in response to the recent arrest of her daughter and news today confirming that Caylee’s body was in the trunk of the car and is dead.
“I want an apology from Sheriff Kevin Beary,” Cindy Anthony said…” “We need to start looking for a little girl that’s walking and living and breathing and someone actually has her,” Cindy Anthony said.
Cindy Anthony telling the media in the front yard what she hopes to accomplish by having Tim Miller’s company, Texas EquuSearch, help search for Caylee.
“I want him to do a search around here to satisfy all of you leaches, parasites and all of you maggots,” Cindy Anthony said Thursday evening.
OK. Is she interested in finding her granddaughter’s body?
Cindy Anthony also appeared this afternoon (August 31) on the televison show “Inside Edition” to make a plea for everyone in America to search for Caylee. She wants everyone to search for Caylee as if they loved her just as much as she does. OK. Why isn’t Cindy out searching for her granddaughter? Why isn’t she out there getting bitten up by bugs and sweltering in the hot sun with the rest of the volunteers? While I realize she can’t bring herself to search for Caylee with the volunteers because that would mean she would be acknowledging a search for a body, at least she could make the effort.
“Leonard Padilla and Tim Miller came to me under false pretenses — both claiming their sole purpose to find Caylee alive. Tim Miller misrepresented his intentions, and is falsely accusing me of not cooperating with him, when it is evident his motives were to obtain publicity for his organizations at the expense of exploiting my granddaughters’ disappearance. Tim Miller tried to discredit Kid Finders Network by falsely stating that they tried to pull out of the search for Caylee. Mr. Miller also claims that he spent twelve hours in my home with my family including Casey, when in fact he spent only a few hours total with me and minutes with Casey. This is an example of Tim Miller following in Leonard Padillas footsteps. Although I feel his organization has a purpose, his misrepresentation has tainted the effort of so many people with good intentions. I would have expected Tim Miller to speak with me one on one, rather than me hearing him on Nancy Grace.”
Of course Tim Miller was not put off by Cindy Anthony’s attack. He only cares about finding Caylee and that has always been the case. If it was not for the Orange County Sheriff’s department donating monies and more equipment to aid in the search, Tim Miller was almost ready to pack up and move on to the next missing person case.
I have mentioned this before and I will say it again. Cindy Anthony is a pretty ungrateful person.

The special session of the Orange County Grand Jury handed up an indictment today consisting of seven charges against Casey Marie Anthony. Only three persons testified during today’s proceedings: an FBI Agent, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department investigator and George Anthony, Casey’s father.
-
The Charges
-
First degree murder
One count aggravated child abuse
One count aggravated manslaughter of a child
Four counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer
During a news conference held today while the grand jury was convening, Casey appeared with her attorney. He mentioned that Casey would not run from the charges if indicted and would turn herself into authorities
“I’ve already placed and given official notice to the state attorney’s office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department that should an indictment come down, Casey will surrender herself,” Baez said. “She is not running from this. She has never attempted to run away from the situation and everyone must understand that. She is doing her best to stand strong before everyone and to stand up to the powers that are working against her. They threw the kitchen sink at her a long time ago — a very long time ago.”
Sometimes things change when the reality of the situation sets in. Casey is in custody but according to different news accounts she did not surrender to authorities as one might have expected her to do.
From www.northfloridanewsdaily.com:
…In another twist, Anthony is now in police custody. She was taken into custody when deputies stopped the vehicle she was in after she apparently failed to return home by the time required by her home confinement agreement.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, she was supposed to be home by 4:00 p.m. and left her attorney’s office approximately 30 minutes before that with her mother, Cindy Anthony. Cindy returned home at 4:24 without Casey. She was believed to have switched cars somewhere along the way…
From www.myfoxspringfield.com:
…Shortly before the announcement Casey Anthony was handed off to an unknown person or persons. While en route from her attorney’s office with her mother, Cindy Anthony, Anthony stopped the vehicle under a bridge near Boggy Creek road in south Orange County near an SUV that belonged to the Orange County Sheriff’s department.
Casey Anthony was placed into the SUV and taken away. Where she was bound was unknown…
Whether there was an agreement with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Casey Anthony’s attorney to turn Casey over in secret or not, true to form, Casey was in violation of the conditions of her home confinement by not being home by 4p.m.
All of Casey’s ‘get out of jail free cards’ have been used up. The Grand Jury recommended no bail for Casey. Maybe now, faced with reality, she will talk.
