Wisconsin - Camron Gardner - Judge Finds Marquardt Guilty Reckless Homicide  

A plea agreement offered by the attorney of Shane Marquardt was accepted today by Dodge County Circuit Court Judge Daniel Klossner. By accepting that plea agreement the court found Shane Marquardt guilty of first-degree reckless homicide in the beating death last May of 3-year-old Camron Gardner in his foster home. Shane Marquardt was the boy’s foster father at the time of the beating death. Shane Marquardt was also charged with first-degree reckless injury for beating Camron’s brother Ethan Schwartz on the same day. The first-degree reckless injury charge was dropped as part of the plea agreement. Ethan had to undergo emergency surgery right after the attack to save his life due to internal bleeding.

By entering the plea deal Shane Marquardt avoided a jury trial that was set to begin later this month. He also avoided a possibly sentence of 80 years in prison. The maximum penalty that can be handed down by the judge is now 40 years in prison and 20 years supervision. Continue reading the article
