According to an article published on News10.net, authorities were called to the Bailey home in Shingle Springs early Saturday morning responding to a domestic violence complaint. When they arrived they found Andrew’s mother badly beaten. She was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The alleged perpetrator of the beating is 50-year-old Charles Bailey. He is the boyfriend of Andrew’s mother and is the boy’s biological father.

The problem now is finding Andrew. When authorities arrived and found Andrew’s mother, they also found that Charles Bailey had fled with the child. An Amber Alert was issued and Charles Bailey was located and arrested in Sonora nearly four hours after the search began. Andrew was not with his father and apparently the father is not cooperating with authorities as to Andrew’s whereabouts.1

The search continues for Andrew:

By Saturday afternoon, emergency rescue teams begun searching for Andrew along the nearly 50-mile stretch between Shingle Springs and Sonora.

Golmitz said about 70 people in small teams were searching the Shingle Springs areas near South Shingle, Latrobe South and Cochrane Ranch Road.
Dogs and helicopter units were also aiding in the search from Shingle Springs to the county line.

Amador, Calavaras and Tuolumne county teams were also assisting by searching their respective jurisdictions, Golmitz said.2

Andrew Bailey described as 3 feet tall, weighing 35 pounds with short dark hair. He may be wearing red pajama bottoms and a blue stripped pajama top.

Anybody with information of the whereabouts of Andrew should call the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office at 530-621-6600.
