According to witnesses, 24-year-old Jacqueline Martinez was beaten and forced into her husband’s truck along with their two young daughters. The woman was screaming as she was dragged towards the vehicle. Her husband, 26-year-old Jose Solano Ortiz, has a long history of violence according to police. Updates

October 17, 2008

The AMBER Alert issued yesterday afternoon was canceled just after 12:30a.m. today when police found the GMC truck parked near the home of one of Ortiz’s relatives. The home is about three-fourths of a mile from where the alleged assault and abduction took place. Police do not believe Ortiz drove to that location. They believe he drove somewhere else, dropped off the truck, and someone else picked it up and drove it to the location it was found by police.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children still has this case on their AMBER Alert site.

10:30p.m. PST

This evening when Westminster detectives went to the home of Jose Ortiz’s parents to question them about the whereabouts of their son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, they found them at the home – minus the suspect. The mother and children are safe for the present time. Police do not know whether Jacqueline and the girls were dropped off at the home by Ortiz or if they escaped and went to the home. It is unknown why no one called police to let them know they were safe. Police say the family has been semi-cooperative and Ortiz is still at-large.

Anyone with information about Ortiz’s whereabouts was asked to call Westminster police at (714) 898-3315, ext. 421. Tips can be submitted anonymously.

I hope this mother takes her children to a safe house where she can get away from this clown before someone gets killed.

Original Post

image of Andrew Baileyimage of Charles BaileyA California Amber Alert has been issued for 2-year-old Andrew Bailey. According to an article published on News10.net, authorities were called to the Bailey home in Shingle Springs early Saturday morning responding to a domestic violence complaint. When they arrived they found Andrew’s mother badly beaten. She was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The alleged perpetrator of the beating is 50-year-old Charles Bailey. He is the boyfriend of Andrew’s mother and is the boy’s biological father.

The problem now is finding Andrew. When authorities arrived and found Andrew’s mother, they also found that Charles Bailey had fled with the child. An Amber Alert was issued and Charles Bailey was located and arrested in Sonora nearly four hours after the search began. Andrew was not with his father and apparently the father is not cooperating with authorities as to Andrew’s whereabouts.1

The search continues for Andrew:

By Saturday afternoon, emergency rescue teams begun searching for Andrew along the nearly 50-mile stretch between Shingle Springs and Sonora.

Golmitz said about 70 people in small teams were searching the Shingle Springs areas near South Shingle, Latrobe South and Cochrane Ranch Road.
Dogs and helicopter units were also aiding in the search from Shingle Springs to the county line.

Amador, Calavaras and Tuolumne county teams were also assisting by searching their respective jurisdictions, Golmitz said.2

Andrew Bailey described as 3 feet tall, weighing 35 pounds with short dark hair. He may be wearing red pajama bottoms and a blue stripped pajama top.

Anybody with information of the whereabouts of Andrew should call the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office at 530-621-6600.

“(Bailey) committed a crime we’re classifying as attempted homicide, instead of just domestic violence,” Golmitz said. “He’s definitely acted out in a very angry and physical manner.”3

News10.net is reporting that police have located the body of 2-year-old Andrew Bailey in the town of Jackson Martell near behind the K-Mart.
